On this trip to India, we spend almost two weeks in search of one of the most iconic animals in the world, the undisputed king of the jungle, the Bengal tiger! We will not only get to know the wilderness of India, but also a culture that is foreign to many people and a fascinating country! We are traveling in a small, exclusive group.
Our journey takes us to the heart of India, to the state of Madhya Pradesh. We visit 3 different national parks for 3-4 days each: Bandhavgarh, Kanha and Pench National Park. Each park has a different landscape from the others, which makes for an interesting change of scenery.
We go in search of tigers and other fascinating wild animals on 16 tours in small, maneuverable safari vehicles. Our small group shares a vehicle without any other guests.
We are accommodated in high-quality hotels and lodges throughout the trip. In Delhi, we stay overnight near the airport before and after the tour. Around the national parks, we stay in beautiful lodges close to the wilderness. -
The aim of this trip is to meet the king of the jungle, the Bengal Tiger!
Over the last few centuries, these beautiful animals have unfortunately been decimated in many countries through hunting and loss of habitat. In India, however, increased protection and the creation of national parks has allowed the population to grow, with around 3600 tigers living in India today. Finding a tiger on a tour strongly depends on luck. However, with 16 half-day tours, we have a very good chance of experiencing several great encounters. The moment when a tiger comes up to you and looks you in the eye is simply indescribably impressive.
We meet mothers with their cubs, but also single animals, especially males. In addition to tigers, we also encounter many other interesting animal species. In Pench National Park, the land of Mowgli, we have a higher chance of seeing leopards. Even a black leopard roams around here.
In addition, we will often see various species of deer and birds (including kingfishers, owls and eagles). Asian elephants and sloth bears also roam the forests, but are more difficult to spot. -
We start and end our trip in a nice hotel near Delhi airport. The hotel includes several restaurants.
On our actual tour in Madhya Pradesh, we stay in beautiful lodges of the highest quality. The operators shed great importance to the interplay with nature. The rooms fit perfectly into the landscape and offer great comfort. In the hotel's own restaurants, we are spoiled with many Indian and international dishes. Most of the ingredients come from the lodge's own gardens. The chefs put great importance to hygiene, so that all dishes can be consumed without any worries. -
We all meet in Delhi for this trip. Those who arrive early have the opportunity to explore parts of Delhi. After a nice dinner together, we take a domestic flight to the state of Madhya Pradesh the next morning, where we visit the best national parks for tigers.
Every morning we set off very early for the national parks, where we spend around 5 hours including a breakfast break. Around midday we drive back to the lodge, where we take a 2-3 hour lunch and relaxation break.
In the afternoon we go on another 3-hour search for tigers and other animals.
After a hot shower and an appetizer, we enjoy a sumptuous dinner and a glass or two of wine to round off the day.On two days we transfer between two national parks. On these days, we are on the road for several hours and relax in the lodge on arrival or explore the area around the lodges.
On the last two days, we drive to the airport and fly back to Delhi. After a final dinner together, the tour ends with check-out on the following day.

India is hot and tropical? This image is only partly true.
During our time in India, temperatures actually dropped below 10 degrees celsius at night! Warm clothing is therefore highly recommended. Towards midday, temperatures rise towards 25 degrees. Wearing multiple layers is key! A hat against the sun and a scarf or mask against the dust on many roads are also helpful.
For photographers, we recommend medium to large lenses. Although tigers and leopards can pass just a few meters away from the vehicles, we normally see them at a distance of around 25 meters. Birds are also often a little further away, so the longer focal lengths are useful. A monopod for mounting the cameras is also useful, especially for videographers.
